As far as Greek food in FL, this is the best I've found thus far. The food always tasted fresh and is always seasoned nicely. Service is always on par for a small eatery. Maybe slow once or twice, but those times were exceptions to the service we usually receive. As for the reviewer complaining that their "fresh" food was frozen prior to it being cooked. I hate to tell you, 90% of all restaurant meat is frozen at some point prior to use. The term "Fresh" usually means freshly prepared, as it was in your case as opposed to having reheated food that was cooked a day or two in advance. Microwaves are used in every restaurant to heat sides, defrost items, etc. It's just that in most restaurants, the customers don't have a view of this being done. You'd be shocked to see what goes on in most kitchens that do not offer a view of your food being prepared. We eat here a lot and have yet to be disappointed in the food. Will definitely be back again.

I have loved this restaurant in the past, the zucchini has become soggy and bland. The Greek salad is still my favorite, skordalia is still very good. A bit on the pricey side

amazing, as soon as i came in they greeted me, no wait. the food was amazing but best of all they had cheese, ON FIRE. HOLY CRAP, IT WAS CRAZY

Great food! Haven't had Gyros for a very long time and this place is awesome! Our Server was very attentive and explained the menu to us. The smelt dish my brother has is very flavorful as well as my spiced lamb gyro. We will definitely come back with more friends and family.

I usually come here for lunch. The portions are large and flavorful. Very good Greek salads. The flaming cheese is to die for. The gyro sandwiches are delicious and they don't skimp on the meat. Save room for dessert.

We found this place on Yelp. We are on a mini-vacation in Fort Myers from Fort Lauderdale. What a great last night here!!! We all LOVE Greek food and this place may be tucked into a quiet shopping center along McGregor but it is a hidden treasure. We tried the fried smelts complete with a little squeeze of fresh lemon and black olives and the ripest tomato slices as an appetizer. THe smelts are not greasy in the least, the fish was actually flakey!! Then we shared the hummus with soft, hot pita bread. Again, a few slices of the ripest and red tomatoes that I remember from NY and NJ -- almost like beefsteak tomatoes. Then the main dishes -- souvlaki on pita wrapped artfully with paper to hold in the many slices of meat with a creamy tzkaki sauce -- and a greek salad perfectly topped with greek olives and thick slabs of anchovies. Nick apologized for the air conditioning issue, but was so sweet and kind to bring over a large fan that kept the four of us cool and comfy. Then as we were ready to leave, full and satisfied, they insisted on giving us a portion of baklava to eat later. What a great evening.

Used to be better...after the renovation prices have increased twice and portions have gotten smaller. Used to have lunch here once a week fully knowing I will get sick right after. Twice the green beans were sour and even after reporting it to the server nothing was done. Been eating at the new Plaka II now, haven't got sick thus far. Ms. Aggeliki, implying that I lie is of poor class on your part. I simply stated my experience. I am no friends with Plaka 2. If Plaka 2 messes up believe me, I will post a review. Plaka 2 is not the only Greek restaurant in town, there are several. I have been dining in Nomikis-Plaka for over 5 years! So, when I post a review I am careful about what I write. Not trying to hurt anyone. On the contrary, maybe you can use my review to correct the issues stated above. Wish you all the best.

FINALLY! A place for AMAZING Greek food that isn't from my mom's kitchen! Just tried Nomiki's for the first time this past Sunday. Had seen the commercials and that there's supposedly a deal for gyro's on Sundays and Tuesdays($6 instead of$8) I'm not sure if it's a new deal and they didn't remember. But with how DELICIOUS the gyro was and MASSIVE (at least double the size of most places) compared to most Greek restaurants around... I'll pay the extra $2 especially since fries are included with it unlike most other places. The calamari was pan fried instead of deep fried and was PERFECTION especially since it was a mix of tentacles and rings (the tentacles are a favorite in this house) can't wait to try more of their menu. Can tell just by reading the menu that the dolmathes (stuffed grape leaves) are made on sight cause they use meat and not just rice. (If it's just rice it's usually from a can.)

We ate here at the suggestion of my mother-in-law, she loves it. Family friendly and casual. We got the meat platter as an appetizer so we could try everything, and I'm glad we did. The Greek meatballs were fried perfectly, and we got gyros for dinner. Everything was seasoned well and we left stuffed- would definitely go back next year.

  • Emily B.

I tried this place because of the great yelp reviews and a groupon offer and am so happy I did! We had the dolmathes appetizer, gyro, and grilled octopus, which came with a greek salad. All were delicious! The service was perfect - attentive, but not too attentive. The decor is cute - they even had a video of Greece playing on a flat screen TV. We will definitely be back! Next time I will skip the appetizer and try dessert. :-)

Authentic Greek food. We always have fast, friendly service, whether it's two of us or our entire 12-person department. I have never been to the other locations, but the food here is always delicious. My heart broke two years ago when they were closed for renovations for a few months.

My new favorite Greek place! Everything was delicious and the server was a sweetheart. This is some of the best authentic Greek food I've had in a long time. The portions were huge, the prices reasonable if not below market, and the flavored were outstanding. Try the dolmades there - by far the best I've ever had!!!

From where I was sitting in the dinning room I could literally see meal after meal entering the microwave. At 7:30pm which is when everything should be in full swing we were told that the gyro meat was going to be a 20 minute wait, the waitress said it was because it needed to be freshly made, the confused expression in my face caused her to add "well it's frozen right now" which further confused me because she just said that it was "freshly made". My mum stupidly still ordered it and I ordered the chicken gyro. It was at this point I noticed the microwave being used like a conveyer belt for dishes of food - shocking. We still stayed, food was ok at first, my chicken wasn't that great. Only an hour later did we realize we both felt sick. Needless to say I won't go back, the salads on the table next to us looked fresh and nice, but that's probably because they couldn't be microwaved.

I've been dining at this restaurant for over a decade. It's a family favorite. The staff is friendly, the restaurant is family owned, and the food is excellent. Vegan recommendations: - Green Beans (get a side order - they are amazing) - Hummus with pita (I ask for hummus with veggies (not on the menu)).

3 1/2 STARS We stopped in here for lunch on a Saturday and it was quite busy. We each had the gyro and thought it to be delicious. This is certainly an authentic Greek restaurant. It's actually a nice Greek diner in atmosphere and furnishings - very pleasant. It is Americanized, however, with fries coming with the gyro, and no substitutions. What's up with that? The server was pleasant, if a bit nonchalant & distant. Atmosphere - 4 STARS Food - 3 STARS Service - 3 STARS

I'm hesitant to pen this review as Nomiki's is one of those restaurants that my wife and I are able to get to in tourist season without much difficulty. I don't understand why. The menu has all those Greek basics done perfectly. I spend all week craving the salad you get before the meal. I've had one of everything at this point (we've been at least 12 times this year) and I love it all. The gyro has those great crispy edges, the souvlaki (pork) is perfectly cooked, seasoned and juicy every time. If you try an appetizer, get the fried zucchini. It's not the nasty carnival food you expect. It's surprising and delicious! I won't even begin to describe how fantastic their homemade deserts are!

Great authentic Greek food. Everything we had was fresh and delicious. Service is very friendly. This is a very lively place that fills up and once you taste the food you will see why.

When the mood for Greek strikes you, this is only place in town to satisfy that urge. You'll leave fully stuffed and with enough garlic pumping through your system to keep the vampires at bay for at least a week. Satisfying, standard menu that is executed well. Try a few of the appetizers of the Mezze for two, if you want some variety.

As Greek food goes, this place is just OK, but given the dearth of Greek dining choices in Fort Myers, I gotta say this is my favorite Greek Restaurant in town. Consistently good food and very reasonable prices. Opa !

My husband and I LOVE Greek food. Nomiki's has great food and it's decent in price. I reccomend their Saganaki it's an all time favorite and probably the best we have yet to taste. We also enjoyed Gyros followed by Baklava. Both were very delicious. They don't have a huge menu but when it comes to Greek, Gyros are it! We will definetly be going back for more! Opa!

  • Mike W.

There are better places out there. The food was not that good and the portions were not very generous for the price. I can't recommend this place. Also, the time we were there the server was absolutely terrible... When she brought out the flaming "Oopa" cheese dish, instead of yelling "OOPA" like others, she game a mouse quiet "oopa", she was either having a really bad day or needed a new job.

We had a wonderful meal here with four adults and two kids. Very gracious service--I assume our server was a family member. My meal was better than any I've had in Chicago Greektown. We ordered a bottle of Greek white wine that was surprisingly tasty and balanced. I selected the gyro salad--awesome charred gyro meat and fresh produce. Everyone in our party loved their meals. The atmosphere is very homey and neat-blue and white with Greek photos, maps and other mementos on the walls. This place is a real find. Why in the world are people lined up at the nearby chain and over-priced seafood restaurants when they could be eating here?

We enjoyed the great food, service, and atmosphere. I felt as if I walked from a strip mall parking lot directly into a small restaurant in Greece. The owner, an older man from Greece, came over to greet us and suggested a Greek beer ... terrific. We ordered grape leaves, Gyro, souvlaki, and a terrific sautéed Zucchini - all were delicious and authentic. We had an excellent Greek red wine the owner recommended. Finished with a wonderful dessert called Galaktoboureko ( en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ga… ) - the custard rolled in pastry version. I'm going back again!
